This article did not advocate a socialist economy, but rather going from predatory capitalism back to healthy capitalism where everyone can have a decent standard of life. You are correct in that capitalism built America. Predatory capitalism also caused the Great Depression, widespread poverty, and all that goes with that. The two are not the same and never will be. Fact is, like during the age of the robber barons we are more of a corporate oligarchy now than we are a true capitalist economy and it must end. Money can only flow in one direction for so long before the economy shatters.
The author is correct; we are about to learn that painful lesson again and when we rebuild (and we will), how we do so will determine whether or not out posterity will be forced to learn the lesson yet again.
