It's hard to say whether the mask mandate meltdown was strictly due to their belligerence, balking against anything Democratic or whether it's a bleed over of rage because they're scared.

Most days I honestly believe that if Democrats started arguing for tax cuts or to ban abortion, Republicans would howl about it infringing on their rights and scramble for the other side of the argument, never realizing they'd just been Elmer Fudd-ed.

Their only real political belief and ideology seems to be standing opposed to what Democrats promote. It doesn't matter what.
