They’re Calvinists.

Calvin was a corrupt and immoral man. He tried to have a teenage girl he impregnated stoned to death. He’s responsible for a lot of death via executions. Some, like Michael Servetus, were spite executions. He held a grudge against Servetus because Severus was a more talented student and he skipped out on a debate when bubonic plague broke out to go tend the sick. Calvin felt embarrassed and was enraged to have been stood up.

Calvin was the original aggrieved man blaming everyone else for his shortcomings. Total narcissist.
