They always threaten violence. And there will be femicides, or attempts, like Vienna, Mahsa Amini - the fallout after her death, the stabbings in Southport. That's just recent, and just a few.
Dominance hierarchy rests on violence and murder. Always has. Always will.
When the state fails to keep women under control, men will turn on them and murders will rise. Same for all the marginalized groups.
There will always be those who protect that hegemony through violence and far more who kick back and watch. If the violence gets to be too much....they'll whine about no one could have known and there was nothing they could do, and this that and the third. They'll expect sympathy and comfort from you for the shock of finally seeing themselves in their full brutality.
Because it's always a matter of degrees.
It's not a bug, not a glitch. It's design. This is what dominance hierarchy makes of human beings.
The only way out is to choose another social structure to arrange ourselves.
You know. I know you know, Lakitha.
