These statistics are misleading. It's the abandonment and poverty that harms kids.

When single motherhood is intentional and a male role model, who is not the father, is present then you find that kids thrive more than those in the standard nuclear family, statistically speaking.

This isn't a dig on men. The reasons are likely that the children were a choice and a deep desire rather than something that happened to you.

It makes an incredible difference in children's lives and ability to thrive knowing they were wanted and loved. That's probably THE most crucial thing. Everything else is secondary. My opinion; also as a single mom with a well adjusted, thriving kid who has recently reached adulthood.
