These days? Most. That's been the trade off to easy divorce. Don't get me wrong, it's way better than when people couldn't divorce.

But. It seems people's thinking has shifted from thinking about marriage in absolute permanent terms to not thinking about 'til death do is part'.

Add to that, based on current public discourse, it seems amongst cishet couples more men than women prefer a transactional relationship and more women than men prefer a companionable partnership....well, of course how we think about marriage was going to change.

Now it seems more like a temporary convenience in order to have children or something we begrudgingly have to do for status and tax benefits.

That doesn't really say anything good about marriage. It says the juice isn't really worth the squeeze there for, maybe, the majority of people. .

It's hard to say, people say a lot of things. Maybe we still want what was advertised, but we're not happy with the product once we got it home and experienced it for what it really is.

Kind of reminds me of those miracle tapeworm diet pills from back in the day.
