There’s someone I follow on another platform who went through this. Her son is a diagnosed psychopath and he attacked his sister and his mother.

He’s too dangerous for most places. He’s attacked other kids in juvie and been kicked out of multiple care homes and institutions.

The parents have been told by psychological experts and law enforcement that his life path is going to lead to murdering someone and ending up in prison or being killed himself. Best case scenario, once he ages out of the system, he’ll get caught on something less severe and end up institutionalized indefinitely.

So that’s what they’re aiming for. Trying to protect him while he is in care, and teach him that consequences will always come sooner or later.

You would not believe the amount of hate and vitriol this poor woman and her family get for “abandoning" their son. Even though they only abandoned him in a legal sense because they had to to get him the care he needs and are still very much involved with his treatment and his life. Most of this hate comes from women.

Every so often there will be a comment that goes the other way, asking what the point is and why don’t they just cut him loose and focus on their other kids or have more if they don’t have more already. Always from men. I’ve never seen one of those comments from a woman, obviously discounting the avatars that are gender neutral and you can’t tell.
