There's not. Every technology we have or that is being developed depends upon fossil fuels and other limited components in order to be produced.
We've simply got to stop being wasteful and save what we have for things that are legitimately necessary if we have a hope of saving any bit of civilization.
My personal belief is that it's too late. We would have neesed to move toward population reduction and a society more like the Ba'ku from Star Trek Insurrection back in the 70s to be in a good place now. But everything we do now gives our grandchildren and greatgrandchilsren a fighting chance. We are going to collapse though. That's inevitable now. It's just a matter of how hard and how fast. We're not.making mindful decisions on that front.
We're not facing a pioulation crisis. That's propaganda. There are 8 billion people on this planet. That's far too many. We should get it down to 2 billion or fewer. The people talking about more babies being born are doing so because they either want soldiers or workers for resource wars and to keep capitalism going. They do not care about greatest widespread well being. They care about keeping what they've got and extracring as much wealth as they can before it's all gone. They don't care who or how many get die or live miserable lives in the process.
What I mean by exiting the economy is just that. We are bound to it and forced to participate because we can nonlonger take care of ourselves. Thus, we are exploited and at the mercy of industries who's goal is to make money in an unsustainable cycle of growth, not preserve the environment. As many people who can build more intentional and sustainable communities outside of the economy, the better. Something like the Amish without the religious restrictions. There are communities springing up all over the world trying to become self sustainable again. The more the better. Because sooner than most are prepared for, the goodies will end, the food will end, the easy energy will end, there won't be any bail outs when the banks gamble your money away, and people are going to have to take care of themselves again.
