There’s more evidence in her favor coming in. The Lawrence O’Donnell show last night aired footage, I’m assuming from her home security camera of them coming in.
They screamed at her to exit the premises in her pajamas, entered before saying they had a warrant much less presenting it, and an officer went upstairs to where her children and husband were, gun drawn.
They knew going in who was in the house and what they were going for. There was zero expectation of violence. They still went in guns drawn, and did not give time to get the kids out — again, early in the morning while they’re still getting up—before rushing upstairs to brandish guns at small children.
When I first heard about this, I thought she got swatted. That some enraged Republican incel type spoofed her email to plant false evidence for just this purpose. With the rise in threats from die hard Trumpsters toward election officials just doing their jobs and anyone else who is standing up for truth and integrity, it makes sense. Plus, she’s a woman who made a Trump lackey look bad so clearly swatting would be an appropriate response to such brazen execution of integrity and competence by a female.
I’m no fan of DeSantis due to his gross negligence and idiocy, but he may not have anything to do with this other than trash talking her and maligning her reputation because she wouldn’t tow the party line and worked FOR FREE ON HER OWN TIME for the benefit of the people so they would have the product she had been hired to create, let’s not forget, at tax payer dollars. She had to do the job twice due to Republican interference and corruption to get the people what they paid for.
He still bears some responsibility though because of the lies he’s been spreading maligning her. I hope she sues him for slander. I also hope she sues the police for their conduct. I hope charges are brought against whoever swatted her, if that’s the case.
I also hope that if it turns out that DeSantis had any further role in this attack other than setting the stage for it with his vitriol, he gets impeached, prosecuted to the fullest extent, and barred from holding any public office ever again. He can live out his days making do as a used car salesman. I hope Floridians send a very clear signal that they will not tolerate state orchestrated attacks and harassment against private American citizens.
Another signal I hope Floridians send loud and clear. One or both of those kids could have been shot. There was absolutely no need to rush in guns ablazin’. Do we really need to add another name to the list of lives snuffed out from poor police conduct, preposterous hyper vigilance, and failure to think and failure of accountability? Whatever evidence they thought they were after had been there for days and weeks already. It wasn’t going anywhere. Why couldn’t they wait 30 minutes for those kids to go to school? Or to wait until they exited the premises when requested, or you know, served the warrant first, before invading the home?
