There are women who support the patriarchy too. There are men whom are ardent feminists. It’s not about men vs. women.
It’s about a hierarchical system of human organization in society and institutions that place (white) men at the apex with everyone else’s lives being crushed underneath in service of their interests and advancement. If that hierarchy placed (any non-white) women at the apex it would be just as dysfunctional and just as brutal to the well being of everyone underneath. In this flipped example, it would be white men being lynched, denied fair pay and equal opportunity for advancement, expected to do free work, afraid to walk down the street alone at night, trying to overcome the trauma of having been enslaved, trying to overcome sexual exploitation of too many numerous examples to count here along with infantilizstion, being redlined because nobody wants people like that in their neighborhood. Do you think your life would be as cushy as it is if that’s the sort of thing you faced?
It’s not nonsense.
Ending patriarchy isn’t about flipping the pyramid of advantage though, it’s about leveling the playing field for an equitable society. We’ll all be better off.
Men won’t lose anything not worth losing in the first place. Things like depression, loneliness, isolation, constantly fighting to prove your worth, mediocrity, etc. Are those things really worth holding on to?
