There are certain cities that attract the indigent and mentally ill because those cities actually try to care for them and don't turn them away. Also, there is a migratory corridor for the homeless and migrant workers on both the easteen and western seaboards.
New York ticks both those boxes, so it has a high level of people with untreated mental illness.
It's the same in Phoenix. It's part of the western migrant homeless corridor.
There's also the drug epidemic here. Lot of people spent a lot odnyears doing some really hard stuff. The stuff that punches holes in your brain. That's not technically mental illness, but they ain't right. They have to be carried at work, they can't keep a job, they're prone to outbursts, they're obsessive like Mike Lindell, irrational....I could go on.
But drugs were funding secret wars and it was a good way to bring the black community to heel, or so the military industrial complex thought.
