??? The report was recent and 60% have reported feeling lonely or 60% have reported recently feeling lonely?
Just trying to clarify what the report is saying.
Either way, that's maybe not so bad. Lonely, can mean friendless, remote, or solitary.
I often have transient feelings of loneliness because I'm the only one who does what I do. That's solitary. But it's fleeting emotion, like most emotions are, and I like what I do so I wouldn't say it's a problem.
Anyway, considering that lonely has such a broad meaning, that can be situational, transient or permanent, and cover a lot of ground, I don't think 60% of people reporting feelings of loneliness as being that exciting or noteworthy. At least, not without more context.
