The ones you see often are. I walk by them every day. They're almost always high, often belligerent and aggressive, lot of mental illness, etc.

So there's the trope and the stereotype, what's seen.

Thing is, they're a small percentage of the homeless population. I worked at Amazon for a while several years ago. Most of the workers were either migrant or seasonal workers, older people forced back to work after retirement, students still living with their parents, and everyone else it was a second part time job, they were adults still living or moved back in with parents, or they were homeless. Lot of homeless cycle through Amazon and they usually end up worse off.
