The Louisiana woman's fetus is without a full skull, a condition known as acrania. It's not headless. That's not the best article on that story.
If it were truly headless, it would already be dead because the brain (part of the head) controls all the life functions. It wouldn't still be growing; the pregnancy would stall.
By Louisiana law, if the fetus was already dead, she could abort as the likelihood of sepsis meets the criteria for risk to the mother. They'd probably still make her carry it for a while or wait until sepsis begins because the exceptions list and rules are very shaky and unclear. I have no idea if they've designated a medical death panel yet, but this incident proves that all states that van will eventually need one.
The GOP has really screwed the pooch in regards to medical law and hospital procedures.
Anyway, just clearing that up for the readers.
Hope that poor woman can get care out of state.
