The comparison is number of deaths and the psychological impact of that many unnecessary deaths in a single day and dealing with those deaths on a state level.
It’s a fair comparison.
Almost 3000 people died when the planes hit the twin towers. Covid death rate has been more than 4000 a day for a few days now. Health care services are severely strained and end of life services cannot cope. We’re back to dead bodies in freezer storage because we can’t get them buried fast enough.
Trump didn’t cause the virus and there would have been deaths with the best of leadership.
There would have been a lot less if he hadn’t willfully lied about it. If he hadn’t politicized public health measures. If he hadn’t fostered an environment where we couldn’t better protect ourselves. If he hadn’t obstructed governor’s efforts after not leading himself.
There are hundreds of ifs at this point.
There is a national psychological impact to devastation. This time, it wasn’t wrought by a foreign enemy; it was wrought by inevitable domestic dysfunction and an unfit leader. Responsibility flows up. If he didn’t want the burden of being responsible for what happens to the nation he shouldn’t have run for office.
In regards to the death toll and the impact of it, how is this not a fair comparison?
Blame and responsibility are not the same thing. He always blames. He never takes responsibility. Real leaders are people who accept responsibility for outcomes of things they make decisions about. They step up and take responsibility for things when there is a need or a void even when events had nothing to do with them.
