The author did not label profit seeking as greed. The author said putting profit over ALL other concerns is greed.

That is not an unsubstantiated or purely ideological argument.

It's within the bounds of the definition of the word. Greed: intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. Ex. "mercenaries who had allowed greed to overtake their principles".

Whereas profit seeking simply means you are attempting to make a profit or a financial gain. You can make a profit without being greedy, obsessive, or overly selfish about it. You can be reasonable and not put profit over causing real, predictable, and devastating harm to others.

The two may be corollary, but they are not the same.
