The 19th amendment wasn't voted on and ratified because of smiling and doing housework.

It got voted and ratified based off of marches, speeches, incarcerations, and screaming demands. And also because when women stepped up and delivered for the war effort, their value could no longer be denied by the nation's leaders.

That's the way it's been in every country where women have achieved or are achieving equality.
