That's what the stats say. Most rapes are committed by someone you know, someone who breached your boundaries, infiltrates into your circle of protection by pretending to be trustworthy, or are already within your family or inner circle.

They don't come at you all at once. They test for weakness and resistance and then further soften up weak points, aka grooming.

The threat of rape and rapists as used by Trump is a weapon in its own right because it recalls the cultural memory of when rape was used as a weapon of war or a femicide following periods of great stress. It's pretty much genetic memory for all women because there is not a woman alive who is not a decendent of one of these feminine events. The stress of them is written in our very DNA, which is why they tend to be so effective.

Throughout history, there is not a Patriarchal culture that does or has existed that had not had one od these events. You even see them in many colonized cultures that have had too much contact and try too hard adopt to oppressor ways.

It's always there. Lurking underneath.
