Traditional women did work. They worked their asses off. They did not have lives of convenience.

Also, they were the ones doing the bulk of the work to feed all those mouths.

Men focused on growing a cash crop and fodder to keep livestock and all that.

But it was women who grew the kitchen garden that provided the family's food, createsd the final products like cheese and butter and jerky. It was women who preserved food to last the year through. And made the medicines to keep everyone healthy.

They also kept the family clothed and pinched pennies for education and shoes, etc. They also often made some money or important trades through what today would be considered cottage industries.


It wasn't until industrialization devalued the work of women and removed families from stewardship of the land replacing much of the traditional labor of women that you have this idea that is men who are keeping all those mouths fed while women sit on their laurels in the suburbs.

There's nothing truly traditional about traditional SAH wives based on post WWII life in the suburbs. That was a blip in time, an aberration to how women have traditionally led their lives.

Traditionally, truly traditionally, women were businesswomen, remarkably enterprising, and incredibly industrious even without access to financial institutions or much control over their own lives and never getting much chance to flex those talents on a fair playing field.

The truth is that any time conservatives use the word 'traditional' in regards to women they're talking out their ass. They're not saying anything real. They're spinning a narrative. Creating propaganda and rhetoric. Spreading nonsense.
