It's kind of unclear whether she, the OP, agrees with the friend or not. She wrote the article based on what he said and in doing so, gave his sexist opinion unnecessary air.

All the commenters are basically pointing out the same thing, that what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If he can't find any women worth marrying in their 30s and he is also in his 30s and unmarried, then he must not be worth marrying either.
