That's an article in and of itself. Basically, what I mean there is that I hate the marketed propaganda of masculinity that has been bought into. AKA the "man" box.
It makes me grieve for you because I know where it goes. When women went through the same thing, it was coined, "the beauty myth".
Human beings don't fit well into rigid gender performance boxes. Note the word performance there.
Not without giving up or suppressing significant portions of their humanity, they don't. Why wouldn't I feel grief for that loss? It's truly tragic. We all lose when we deny our humanity.
It's got nothing to do with individuals who happen to be male or happen to be female. It's all in that constructed definition of how we define being a man or being a woman.
