That's a good point though I would counter that it's hard enough to deal with the shame surrounding sex our own selves without supportive understanding that you don't get by default from an opposite gendered partner much less handle the shamefest your partner carries around due to these cultural and religious beliefs.

Also, if we all acknowlwdge these beliefs have detrimental to our overall wellbeing as bith individuals AND as a society, then shouldn't the correctiomnbe both individual and societal to end the continuing investment in belief systems and ideologies that continue to prove themselves problematic, hurtful, and harmful?
