That wasn't a strawman. It was contextually implied and we all knew that because we're all intelligent and rational readers with good reading comprehension skills. Plus, none of Robert's readers are going to be the type to purposefully deflect from the article's main point by quibbling over syntax.

He wasn't aligning, denigrating, or putting onerous demands on a group (women) with his generalizing by telling them what and how they need to be or do in order to appease the selfish and petty demands of someone else.

Ergo, the generalizing is fine. We knew exactly what he meant, didn't we everyone?
