That was a bit much. What happened was that once #MeToo took off, a fair number of men used the movement and feminism, more broadly, as a means to get access women to abuse.

They manipulatively claimed to be feminist allies in order to troll for women for dates and hook ups.

Stories started coming out about women being date raped by "feminist ally" men.

Women don't have any meaningful protection from rape except our own constant vigilance. A huge part of that is warning each other.

There were also some instances of political infiltrators claiming ally ship only to undermine the movement as a whole. They were misogynists looking to undermine feminist advance and put women in their place.

So that's all that was. Not all allies are truly allies. Tread carefully, and don't trust a man wants to have your back rather than put you on your back just because he says he's an ally.

Shame it's that way, but it is what it is. It's not truly the Kaffka trap Penguin says it is.

It's yet another warning response to real harm and criminal behavior that women endured. Again.
