That viewpoint doesn't make you racist. For the most part, you are correct. Comply. However, that said, the interpretation does not apply fairly to the situation, because of racism. There's a distinction here. The police narrative is that he was resisting arrest. But watch the video and read the eye witness accounts. He wasn't resisting arrest at all. He complied, quite amiably. He was not rude. He was not belligerent. He was friendly, even. He was high and he had a panic/anxiety attack because he's also claustrophobic and he's afraid of the police. He expressly told them of his claustrophobia and apologized. Chauvin escalated a very minor twitch and stumble into a take down because Floyd was a very large black man and Chauvin is a racist who fears blacks and already thinks they are all criminals.
During the 8 minute pressing death, Floyd was not resisting arrest. Not once. He was mouthy, but not in the sense of mouthing off, in the sense of begging for his life, again fear and panic and under the influence of drugs. Further, if Floyd's previous run ins with the law are to be held against him, then Chauvin's previous reporting a of excessive force must be held against him too. It's only fair.
Most reasonable people are not going to disagree with you on point. One should comply with the police. Full stop. But making that assessment in regards to George Floyd without examining the full scope —like that he actually wasn't resisting arrest—means you unintentionally play into a false narrative and are supporting and giving cover to racist cops trying to cover their asses after they murdered someone. Of course people are going to be inflamed. Comply with the police does not apply to George Floyd. He did comply. He still died. That's why you got blasted in the comments.
