That seems to be a common opinion from non-Americans. I disagree.
The thing about laws is that they can be made and then unmade. Stste laws can be subvertes by federal law. A Constitutional right is more sacrosanct. A Federal consitutionational right the MOST sacrosanct. The court's recognition of constitutional law is pretty much supposed to be the final word. After that, it really takes the entire nation to come into lock step agreement to reverse course.
It's not like there weren't attempts to establish reproductive freedoms through the legislative branches. Roe v Wade was how we got there in the end.
Personally, I was always touched with the care and careful consideration the court at the time put to the issue. It was a valid compromise between all concerns. It freed women from never ending reproductive servitude.
It will force legislation eventually but I doubt that legislation will have the same care and consideration behind the issue as that court decision did. Too many women have already died due to legislative bungling around in things they refuse to comprehend or not exploit to enrich themselves and their masters. Many many more will follow. Other aspects of reproductive healthcare will be sacrificed as well from lack of doctors and coverage and eventually, knowledge and training.
And yes, no fascist country should be considered first world. Ever. My countrymen have chosen fascism and everything that comes with it. They would see us fools on the world stage and removed of consideration as an advanced nation.
