That one's a little different. You have the authority to subdue out of control kids. Kind of like a cop, or a doctor. And, you're a lot bigger (usually). Besides, you're talking about mentally disturbed kids not the public at large. And there are limits to that.

Would they expect you to stand there and not respond to being stabbed repeatedly by teenager, for example?

You should be paid more for that though, for sure.
