That means we need a better way to determine these things, not that we should exclude people from the process. Why should the electorate be punished for failures to modernize the election process, failure of legislators to hold liars and corruptors within their ranks accountable, and proliferation of massive misinformation campaigns at the hands of big money and special interests? How will that help?
Fact is, the electorate is held accountable regardless because all those things play out across our lives, the lives of the average guy/gal. Therefore, if we are expected to suffer governmental malfeasance with no recourse you have a path to oppression and tyranny regardless of how benign it starts out or what system of governance you choose because all systems tend toward corruption in time. It’s system entropy basically.
The better answer is for the electorate to maintain an intolerance for lies and corruption within politics. That happens with education, developing mental toughness, and dedication, characteristics anyone is capable of exhibiting and learning.
