That just makes them useless as partners. It doesn't make them disposable or trash.

And before anybody gets their feelings in a snit, useless is just a word. It has a specific meaning within certain framewoeks and contexts, it's not a moral judgement unless you make it one.

In other words, being useless isn't necessarily a bad thing. Depends upon that context.
