Thanks for the response, but that wasn’t really my point about playing politics.

Politics is what it is, always has been. Once he was elected though, he was elected to be steward of the Republic and to represent all Americans. Even the Democrats and Independents who voted against him.

Using his office and position in the way he has isn’t playing politics in the manner you suggest, it is a type of warfare after the fact (he already won the election, move past campaigning) and a dereliction of duty. He’s on tape waxing philosophical about how tragic (wink wink nudge nudge) it would be if the virus eliminates his opposition or made Dem leaders look weak.

This is not doing his job. We all suffer because of it. We deserve better.

I didn’t expect every decision to be perfect regarding the virus — that’s nuts. Anyone can armchair quarterback from a rearview mirror, it’s different when you have to make the call. Also, as President, it’s his call to make and his responsibility to bear. I don’t think I suggested Fauci or anyone else should have been in charge. Otherwise, what’s the point of an election?

Do I wish he would have listened to virologists and health experts more than Fox News? You betcha. What thinking person wouldn’t? After all, Sean Hannity doesn’t have any expertise other than running his mouth about mostly nonsense.

Did Trump make some good calls? Sure. Sadly, the good calls he made were hampered, mired in controversy due to his playing politics, or overshadowed because of the outrage they engendered because he did them for the wrong reasons and couldn’t help bloviating about it. These factors negated most of the good he could have had from them for the most part.

Hey, it’s no secret that I’m no fan of Trump. That doesn’t make me a Trump Hater. I hate what he’s done to this country but I don’t blame him entirely, he had help. As I’ve said before, I wasn’t a fan of Obama in his first election either. It wasn’t personal, I felt he lacked experience. I was happy that he stepped up and did a decent enough job. I was glad to have been wrong. I got more enjoyment out if that than rubbing people’s noses in it, so to speak. He wasn’t a perfect President, but I didn’t expect him to be. He didn’t muck everything up. I did not and do not agree with every decision he made but they were his to make and bear responsibility for.

Truth is, I didn’t vote for Trump because I felt he was unfit for the job. It wasn’t personal. But I would have loved to have been wrong. Just like before.

That said, he’s made his bed. He’s President and the responsibility of his decisions rests on him. You don’t get prizes for putting on a parking brake when you run over pedestrians to steal a handicapped parking space from a parapalegic. What follows next, he will be responsible for because he’s in charge, even if it isn’t all his fault. I’m not just talking about the Pandemic there.
