Thanks for the comment, but that wasn't the kind of stuff I was talking about. The dynamic I meant seems to be more about assuaging guilt or buying favor by offloading unwanted items to people like single mothers because, being single mothers, they must need help.

They never ask you what you actually need, because it's not about you, you're just supposed to take their surplus and cheap crap with a smile because they're helping you take responsibility for your mistake.
