Teach them to fight. Every year buy them a tool and a toy. Build skills. Really I still situational awareness and to not trust people blindly. Keep them fit and active. Don't do so much for them. Absolutely ditch the "Daddy's Little Princess" routines. Make sure she can feed and clothe herself. Don't teach her fear of the dark, etc.
Make sure she understands knots, pulleys, and leverage (both weight and power). And basic building. There's not much you can't do for yourself if you understand those things.
