Sure, sex and affection is one tool. But female bonobos will also beat the living shit out of an overly aggressive "rapey" male. Group beat down from hell. They've been known, on occasion to kill these males.

They will also deny sex. Individually or as a group.
They ostracize.
They screech and raise a ruckus.
They shun.
They will even abandon their young.

You also see human females employing all these tactics too, around the world. Every one.

But bonobos don't have the internet to contend with, so their normal checks are not outgunned. Also, they don't have any sense of sexual shame thanks to religions and centuries of male control and economic disenfranchisement. Female Bonobos were never prevented, legally, from being able to feed themselves.

You could do what we ask, and bring things back into tolerable levels. If we have to get creative on checks, because you men refuse to modify your behavior, you will NOT like the result. Seems like we're getting closer to that day.
