Sometimes, yeah.
Other times the guy repeats male domination rhetoric he heard or saw on the internet. These misogynistic podcasts and influencers are everywhere. Men like Jordan Peterson sound intelligent to average guys. They don't realize they're being propagandized and defrauded.
So they use misogynistic language and trigger women whether they mean it the way the Incels and trolls have used it or not. Many of these women are survivors of sexual assault who are very sensitive to being victim blamed and gaslit.
Men are victims of patriarchy too. They don't know how to have healthy relationships and have been convinced by man-box definitions they are unworthy of love and care unless they can become or parody a high extrinsic societal value.
It doesn't matter how much you want better for them, want to live them, want to have a family with them, or want a fulfilling relationship with them. They don't know how to be loved and it seems the majority of them would rather double down on that damned man box than put it down and learn to see themselves outside those fear generated tropes.
Man, bell hooks had it absolutely right. But the guys who need this epiphany the most will not follow her leadership because she's a Black woman.
Crazy.
