Societal collapse is unavoidable now. There’s no stopping it at this point. The question is whether or not it will be a partial or a complete collapse and whether or not those left can reorganize when it’s done.

It’s not like this is the first time Western Civilization has collapsed; it’s just always been able to reorganize and then expand again after a previous partial collapse.

I’m not optimistic that will happen again this time though. We’ve also reached the average lifespan of civilizations.

Also, as you’ve so eloquently pointed out, it doesn’t seem like anybody is really interested in preserving this one.
