Simplistic, but not completely off the mark either.
It's about awareness, ultimately.
Old people today set the stage that my generation has to live in by the choices they made, the choices they didn't make, ways they were bamboozled, how they definee success, what they chose to believe....all the things.
Just as my generation and those doen the line are setting the stage for our children and grandchildren.
COVID id a good example.
Our collective decisions on COVID are part of the landscape we cultivates for our decendants to have to navigate, go through, live through.
What we chose to believe, how we chose to act, how we didn't choose to act, how we got bamboozled, the leadership we put in place....all the things.
You can't have that same process be true about COVID in a "black box" way and not realize it's also true about fossil fuels I dustry lies, the choice to pursue plastics the way we have, believing in perpetual economic growth, not investing in more passive and sustainable technologies much earlier on, choosing lives of convenience....all the things.
Look, you can't know what you didn't know. When you know better, you do better. Unless....you choose to stick your head in the sand so you don't have to admit you were wrong/made a mistake or so you can keep what you're doing, that life of ease, and let someone else deal with the fallout down the road.
The old people who get that "black box" label....which are they doing? Are they making what chamges they can or are they pretensinf ro be an ostrich while pontificating endlessly about how the young are a waste of space?
Mmn Hmm.
Ding ding ding. Winner winner chicken dinner.
