What do people get? The fatalists get a sense of solace or a means to grieve. A lot of people feel like mainstream media, the govt, and the power brokers are gaslighting the public, so they get the sense of validation that comes from being believed. People who are looking to build resilience get ideas and community. People who are just coming around to accepting reality get a sense of how widespread the problems are. People who are frustrated get a rant or bitch session prepared for them, so it's a way of relieving that frustration.

The other thing that's kind of eye roll annoying about people who refer to such articles as "doom porn" is the assumption that the collapse community all believe in an all out apocalypse, Walking Dead, extinction of the species sort of stuff. That would be the more in line with the Proper community.

There are plenty who believe we are tracking collapse that believe we're talking about the collapse of globalization and of civilizations, not the extinction of the species. For them, her articles are also a record of events.
