She didn't put the children in danger. The shooter and the police inaction put them in danger. By the time she went in, nothing she did increased the danger they were already facing.
Further, when she begged them to go in and do something alongside other parents doing the same thing, the police mocked her and them, pinned some of them with tasers, and handcuffed her. She talked herself out of the handcuffs and then went in some time later.
I'm going to be honest. If that had been me I would have done no different. The mocking of parents' distress would have been an unassailable signal to me that they were not going to act at all. Let's not forget the SC has decided that it is not the job of police to save lives or render aid. It is entirely up to them.
No way in fucking hell will I leave my child to be slaughtered. I'd get as many out as I could, but you'd have to convince them to come and maybe argue with the teacher and convince her that help isnt coming and you have to be quiet. Personally, I would have gone for the windows over going into the building, but that's most tactical in her last school. Might not have been so smart in Uvalde.
An entire generation of kids across America have grown up feeling abandoned by society and like they're disposable because the "adults" won't put a stop to this fear they have to live with. This never ending spectre of death and societal neglect.
There's just no fucking way I would abandon her to die because some cop was to scared to do his job. I would never abdicate mine as her mother.
