Seems like you’ve missed the point as well.

If men are going to see women through the most shallow and superficial of lenses then they cannot complain when women see men through that same lens. That’s pretty much it.

If a man is going to look at me and see nothing but my boobs and my ass and think that’s all of me that ever matters, he can’t complain if I look at him and am not impressed by his bald head and his beer gut. He can’t say women’s standards are too high when women’s standards are matching what he’s laid out. He set the standard of dehumanization, or bodies only.

Further, seeing someone as a whole person doesn’t negate their attractiveness. It puts it in a proper perspective. It allows other attributes which are equally important to come forward and outshine ones that are maybe not as physically appealing. For example, a man who is bald but kind will be more attractive than a man with a full head of hair that is unkind. A man with a beer gut and who is emotionally stable will be infinitely more attractive than a man with washboard abs who throws tantrums and breaks things at 30 yrs old.

You cannot chastise women for "not seeing the whole man" but give men a pass on seeing women as nothing more than a beautiful body to fuck. A notch on their headboard. Something to use and consume and then discard.

Sure. Enjoy each other’s bodies. That’s what they’re there for. But enjoy each other’s minds, hearts, and spirits too.

And what is this shit about dehumanizing ourselves for excelling professionally and taking pride in doing so? Have you been raiding the pharmacy or something? If that’s what you learned to be a psychologist, you should torch that degree and get your money back. You see patients with that bullshit and you’re going to cause a lot of harm. It has hurt women immeasurably to never be seen as anything more than a fuckmaid by their partners.

Whether men are more naturally visual or not (and that’s arguable), we are all more than our bodies. If that’s all men see, they’re not seeing us women at all. They’re using us. That’s not okay.

My 18 year old, my beloved Urchling, adds that your opinion on this is nothing more than reducing a man’s intelligence to be less than that of a dog. You’re literally making them be dumber than dogs in your eyes. You’re not dehumanizing women, you’re dehumanizing men. Knock it off.
