ROFL. It’s big of you to admit you were wrong to malign cretins and pus in such a fashion. Kudos.

Yeah. You’ve said as much before.
I doubt Democrats want war. They’d rather just dissolve the union and have a country of their own rather than continue to deal with an outlaw renegade regime.
Nevertheless, what you want and what you can have are not always the same thing. Ultimately, we’re all still the descendents of rabble rousers. It depends how the military goes. I have a hard time believing they’d back Trump in a coup after the way he’s maligned them. They are not required to obey unlawful orders. And they aren’t inflicted with imaginary bone spurs. They don’t play soldier, they are soldiers.
Further, Republicans really are in the minority of voters. The largest block is actually Independents, like me, at 40%ish. Independents don’t typically wave placards for either party; we’re sick of them both for different reasons. So when it comes time to pick up a gun and shake the tree of liberty, it’s not like there will not be patriots on that side of the argument ready and willing to do so.
It’s a modern age, and there are lots of ways to wage war now beyond machetes and assault rifles. While assault rifles have a high initial impact, they are part of shock and awe apparatus. It’s debatable how effective they are in a true war of attrition against the other weapon options. After all, they didn’t win the day in Vietnam or Afghanistan in the end.
Time will tell.
But, even if they win the coup and subjugate more than half the country under their heel they still lose. They’ll face possible international sanctions and the consequences of isolationist policies. Maybe even preemptive strikes; I’d be shocked if the idea hadn’t been bandied about at high tables around the world. He’s certifiable and unpredictable and he has the nuclear codes.
Republicans need to stop trying to find their spine by shoving their heads up their asses. It’s just not very effective because of the inevitable clench factor. They need to find the courage and integrity to turn away from this path.
