Recognizing all 5 types of violence does not shrink the impact of physical violence.

If anything, it shows the links between the different forms and shows how one kind can lead to another.

5 types are physical, verbal, psychological, sexual, and socio-economic.

Chris Rock’s "joke" was an attack of verbal, psychological (maybe sexual?) violence. It was met with mild physical violence.

You cannot say that his "joke" was not designed to injure, abuse, and damage. If it wasn’t then why did he not stay on the up and up and clear it with the Oscar’s staff first?

It meets the definition of violence and he went about executing said violence in an incredibly underhanded way. Deliberately.
