Pregnancy shouldn’t exclude you from the same rights you would have if you weren’t pregnant like the right to make your own medical decisions without state interference. Or, the right to not be required to die from an easily treatable medical emergency because a pack of idiot politicians think ectopic pregnancy is a myth or that it can be transplanted in the right place. Or, the right to not be forced by the state to endure cruel and unusual punishment we don’t force on our worst criminals by forcing nonviable, grossly deformed, or genetically anomalous births and then watching said babies die horribly and slowly as well as being penalized financially for their care. Or, same vein of thought, the psychological torture the state now requires women to endure by forcing birth after a rape. Any idea how many rape and SA survivors attempt suicide? I’ve heard second hand that abortion clinics are already hearing suicide language from patients who can’t get an abortion and that suicide hotlines are seeing an uptick in calls due to unplanned pregnancies.
Not everything in the world is about men or ensuring equality between men and women.
Alieto’s argument is fucking ridiculous. It’s like saying, “okay, Texas wants to send all brown Asian Americans to forced labor camps but all you yellow (oriental) Asian Americans can just go about your business. And since this new law only applies to American Asians and not all minorities, its good. And just. Nothing to see here. Everything’s fine.”
It’s ridiculous. Obviously. A pregnancy status should not make one lose rights every other citizen and even corpses enjoy.
Forced birth and motherhood is as morally repugnant as forced labor camps.
