Plus, women tend to be more ritualistic about it. They go through a checklist. Say goodbye. Gift cherished things to loved ones. They stage. That kind of thing. They worry about pain and mess and so choose methods to address those concerns. It leads to higher survival rates.

Men tend be more spontaneous about it. They'll either want to go out in a blaze of glory or they'll just have the thought and if they have a means (guns, drugs, means to hang themselves, etc) they'll immediately act upon it. Lower survival rates. It's odd to me that they rarely choose exsanguination though. Maybe because it doesn't addess the self loathing?
