People aren’t the same. And people don’t behave the same with everyone they know. Just because 'girls' say they don’t like being approached in the grocery store doesn’t mean it’s true of all girls or that exceptions based on manner won’t win out on occasion.

A woman says she doesn’t like pushy men. She’s talking about constantly being on guard against a pushy man. She married a pushy man. What gives? Well, he may be overly solicitous and kind, NOT PUSHY with HER. He unloads the pushy part of his personality on the basketball court or amongst his work colleagues, what have you. Her he treats with the utmost respect and consideration. Not all relationships have the same dynamics.

This phenomenon only troubles men who think of women as dolls, Stepford wives, or a monolith. They only ever think of us in terms of absolutes and they’re trying to figure out the magic algorithm to make us give them what they want.

It’s a pointless, dehumanizing exercise. Ironically, they dehumanize themselves with this thinking.
