Partly, but studies show a mother's influence isn't as deep as we've believed, particularly with boys.
They grow up to be how all the other men are. Cultural influence is the biggest factor.
You find a lot of the most well rounded men were children of single mothers with active extended family. They really grow up seeing the strength of women and admire them.
You also see the worst ones are children of single mothers with little to no familial support, living in poverty with few ways out, and (mom) possibly suffering from mental disease.
That tells you it's not the mom. Mom is an influence, yes. But economic conditions, education, familial bonds and support, and a stable/functional home and family are what creates healthy adult males. Females too, obviously.
