…es, or where those roles are completely reversed and females are dominant. But, as animals ourselves, it would be best to look within our own genus for differences in behavior across sex to understand where we fall.

Our genus is Homo. None of the other great apes, including Bonobos share our genus. Therefore, your logic here does not stand.
