Of course! Being from the deep south it’s even worse. It seems about 1/3 to 1/2 of everything we say is some sort of colloquial or idiomatic expression.
Younger people have really gone wild with poetic license of the language this generation. They can be unintelligible. You recognize they’re using English words but you’ve got no idea what they’re saying. Fun and frustrating at the same time.
You really notice it when you try to learn another language. Things like that don’t work translated literally word for word.
