Nurse has 3 definitions. One noun, two verbs.

Your comment is made on the tertiary definition of nurse. And although 'nurse' derived from the Latin word 'nutririe' which does mean 'to suckle' and was used in the 14th century to mean to care for children, which includes suckling as in a 'wet nurse', it has been used predominantly to mean 'to care for someone who is sick or injured' since the late 16th century.

It's the 21 century now. You're about 500 years behind everyone else in use of the word 'nurse'.
