Not really. It’s using a dictionary term appropriately. It’s how you refer to someone who is engaged in hypocrisy, the same way as a preppie is someone who wears a particular kind of clothing. Or how you refer to certain professions; someone who teaches is a teacher, someone who sells things is a merchant.
It’s not like racial or gender slur. It doesn’t mock or humiliate or dehumanize.
It’s something we all do at one point or another, mostly unconsciously, but not always.
To say someone is a hypocrite is to point out contradictory thinking. It’s a call to do and be better, to think things through more. To not ask or require more or different from others than you are willing to give of yourself.
