Not necessarily. I get what you're saying, but it ignores certain nuanced things.
For example, population dynamics. I looked it up for the UK, and there are higher percentage of men than women by around 2% or so. So even if every man was eligible, ready, safe, and for lack of a better word - "pickable (ugh)" and every woman was the same meaning there were no barriers for either gender....you're still going to have kinely men in the UK because mathematically, there simply aren't enough women to go around.
In the US, that's flipped. There are more women than men by about a percent. Add in the constant push from religions and the state and now certain online agendas, there's a lot of pressure over here for women to date, marry, and settle down EVEN if that means "taking one for the team (the country) and settling for a poor nuptial candidate just so young men won't fall down the rabbit hole of violence. "He'll step up into his manhood if you just submit to him" sorts of bullshit. That messaging is fucking everywhere now. There's slight differences in different communities. For example, Black women are expected to save the Black community by accepting any man regardless of whether he's abusive, employed, faithful, etc. just to give him a reason to stay out of prison. Or to take care of him in old age. Or to birth his children so he'll have a legacy. You hear all manner of craziness.
There's A lot. Of pressure. Keep in mind, over here we're also struggling through a fascist rise. When discussing Nazi Germany, the focus is always on "thr master race". Nobody ever seems to mention the pressure that HAD to have been placed on young German women of that era to produce that master race.
We're seeing the beginnings of that over here now. It's gonna get worse. That's mostly directed at white women like my daughter.
Anyway, I've read the OP and I'm thinking she's American. I might be wrong on that though. If I'm right, there's some context. It's a "marry in haste, repent in leisure" push back message.
